So, this last weekend was quite exciting! I had the very cool opportunity to do a video shoot for OPI using their new Color Paints collection (info & swatches on these soon!). I started my trip to LA on Friday (April 24th) morning, and arrived about 3pm. Jet lag was kicking in so I was really wanting to get to the hotel. Unfortunately, our driver was a tad bit late, but hey, as long as you get me to where I gotta go! Even though I’m fully aware of how horrible LA traffic can be, I was totally not ready for it to take about an hour and 20 minutes to go 12 miles to our hotel, phew!
Pulling up to the Andaz in West Hollywood was a very nice sight, indeed. After checking in, I was given a nice cold iced tea, then headed up to my room where I engulfed all of the free in room snacks. Of course, I was still hungry so I Google’d some sushi delivery, sat back and relaxed. My call time was 8am the next morning, so I fell asleep soon after to make sure I’d be well rested.
I woke about 6am to get ready. I got picked up at 7 to head to the studio where the shoot was being held. There was no traffic at all, so it was smooth sailing all the way to Lacy Studio Lofts, near Downtown LA.
Once I arrived, I was shown where to go, and Jaqueleen (who’s the interactive media manager for OPI) was right behind me. She was SO nice, and had the coolest pastel pink hair! Once all the hand models and rest of the crew arrived, we started on the first tutorial. It was a really neat abstract confetti design. I seriously love the Color Paints collection since it allows you to easily blend the colors together. For the second design we did some amazing rainbow nails! Can’t wait to show you the tutorials, you’ll love them!
Towards the end of the day, they asked if it would be okay to use me as a hand model for the swatching part of the video. DUH, of course I said yes! So, you’ll be seeing my hands modeling on film, too! The entire day was SO much fun and I had the best time working with everyone at the shoot. We finally wrapped up at 4pm and I headed back to the hotel. A car was coming at 9am the next morning to go to the airport, so I just chilled with my fiancé, and ordered delivery from a place called Vegan Glory. It was delicious!
Before leaving for LAX on Sunday, I went up to the rooftop pool to snap some pics. It was a gorgeous day with a slight breeze. If I was staying longer, you would’ve definitely found me up there most of the time.
I grabbed some complimentary water and apple juice from the lobby, and it was time to go back home. The weekend went by so fast and in a blink on an eye, I was back on the East Coast! My next trip (for now) is to New York at the end of June, and I can’t wait to share it! Stay tuned!
